The mounting platform should be at least 3/8 in. thick, and the hole diameter shouldn't be more than 1/16 in. larger than the threaded shank

Using this CURT trailer ball is easy. First, check that your mounting platform is at least 3/8 inches thick and the hole size isn't more than 1/16 inch larger in diameter than the threaded shank. Then, securely attach the ball using the zinc - plated hex nut and helical lock washer. Make sure to torque it to 160 ft. lb. Before you start towing, double - check that your vehicle, hitch, and trailer can handle the load, and never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component. When it comes to maintenance, the stainless - steel finish helps protect against corrosion and wear. But it's still a good idea to clean it regularly, especially after use in harsh conditions.
