Using your Blue Sea 8248 DC Digital Multimeter with Alarm is a breeze. First, make sure it's properly connected to your DC system. The meter can measure amperage from -500 to +500 Amps and voltage from 0 to 60 Volts. You can easily read the voltage in 0.01 Volt increments. If the voltage goes too high or too low, you'll get both audio and visual alarms to keep you informed. Remember, the standard meter operates on the negative side of the circuit. If you're installing it on the positive side, like with an alternator, you'll need a Shunt Shifter. You can adjust the display brightness to one of three levels according to your needs. And to save power, use the programmable sleep mode to blank the display when not in use. The front of the meter is splash - proof, but try to keep it away from excessive moisture. It comes with a 500 Amp shunt, which is ready for use right out of the box. This multimeter is applicable for 12, 24, 32, 36, and 42 Volt DC systems.
