Product Description

Garmin's GRID remote input device offers complete control over all GPSMAP® 8000 Glass Helm series units. With its rotary knob and joystick controls, you can easily navigate through menus and screens. It allows seamless navigation between monitors at a station, and you can control single or multiple 8000-series monitors and multifunctional displays (MFDs) using just one device. The GRID can be integrated into a captain's chair for a low-profile controlling solution. Dimensions are 3 1/16' x 6 7/8' x 2 3/8' (77 x 174.8 x 60 mm), and it weighs 9.1 oz. (258 g). It operates in a temperature range from 5° to 158°F (-15° to 70°C). Made of fully gasketed, high-impact plastic, it's waterproof to IPX7 standards. Input power is 10 - 35 Vdc, with a 7.5 A, 42 V fast-acting fuse. Maximum power usage at 10 Vdc is 2.8 W. Typical current draw at 12 Vdc is 100 mA, and maximum current draw at 12 Vdc is 280 mA. The compass-safe distance is 14' (356 mm). The box includes the GRID device, mounting hardware, power cable, a 6 ft network cable, and documentation.

Using the Garmin GRID remote input device is a breeze. First, connect it to your GPSMAP® 8000 Glass Helm series unit using the power cable and network cable provided in the box. Then, mount it in a convenient location, like a captain's chair. You can use the rotary knob and joystick to navigate through menus and screens on your monitors. To switch between different monitors at a station, just use the controls as you normally would. When it comes to power, make sure the input power is within the 10 - 35 Vdc range. Be aware of the compass-safe distance of 14' (356 mm) to avoid any interference. As for maintenance, since it's made of high - impact plastic and is waterproof to IPX7 standards, you can clean it with a damp cloth. But don't expose it to extreme temperatures outside the 5° to 158°F (-15° to 70°C) range. If you need to replace the fuse, use a 7.5 A, 42 V fast - acting one. Keep the documentation handy for any further reference.
