Product Description

The Clipper Compass is an advanced fully - electronic compass. It comes with a remote fluxgate sensor that offers high accuracy. The large, clear display has 7 - level illumination and shows both True and magnetic headings. The gimballed sensor, which can handle plus/minus 45 degrees of pitch and roll, should be installed where stray magnetic fields are minimal. An electronic auto - calibration feature eliminates small errors. The Steer to Course Function is really useful. When selected, a series of chevrons indicate the steering error's magnitude and direction. Just turn the wheel in the chevron's direction until they disappear to stay on course. You can preset the steering sensitivity. There's also an off - course alarm for safety when you're not at the helm. If the heading deviates beyond the preset amount, the alarm will go off. Technical specs: 12v DC nominal supply voltage, 120mA+ consumption (max 25mA for display illumination), +/- 1 degree fluxgate accuracy, adjustable damping, 1 - degree display resolution. The display case is 110 x 110 mm, 30mm deep behind the panel. The fluxgate is 175mm in diameter and 95mm long. The sensor comes with 5 meters of cable and a face cover. Extension cables are available. Note: This product can't be returned to the original purchase point. Contact the manufacturer directly for any issues. Owner's Manual (pdf) is provided.

Using the Clipper Compass is quite straightforward. First, install the remote fluxgate sensor in a place where there are few stray magnetic fields. The sensor can handle pitch and roll up to plus/minus 45 degrees, so don't worry too much about the boat's movement. Once installed, the electronic auto - calibration will take care of small errors for you. When you want to use the Steer to Course Function, select it on the device. The chevrons will show you how to steer to stay on course. Just turn the wheel in the direction of the chevrons until they're gone. You can set the steering sensitivity according to your preference. The off - course alarm is a great safety feature. Set the acceptable deviation amount, and if the heading goes beyond that, the alarm will sound to let you know. As for maintenance, keep the display clean and dry. Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures. If you have any problems, don't return it to the store. Instead, contact the manufacturer directly. The included Owner's Manual in pdf format has more detailed information, so it's a good idea to have a look at it.
